Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT on the web can use Birta as a remote MCP connection in developer mode. Availability depends on your account and your workspace's policy; if the controls below are missing, use another supported tool or ask the workspace administrator.

  1. 1. Turn on developer mode

    Open ChatGPT → Settings → Security and login, then turn on Developer mode. A managed workspace can restrict this setting.

  2. 2. Add the Birta MCP connection

    Open ChatGPT Plugins, select the plus button, and enter a name and description. Under Connection, choose the public MCP server option and paste this full URL, including /mcp:

    https://birta.dev/mcp

    Create the connection, then review the tools ChatGPT discovers before you use it.

  3. 3. Allow access

    The first time ChatGPT uses the connection, it opens Birta in your browser. Sign in with the one-time code sent to your email, then allow access. ChatGPT keeps its own access after that and connects on its own — there is no key to copy or paste.

  4. 4. How it works

    ChatGPT works on a draft of your site: it writes the pages file by file, starting from scratch or from a copy of a version you already published. Nothing on your live site changes while it does.

    The draft has its own address. Open it, and mark what you want changed straight on the page. Tell ChatGPT you have left remarks, it changes the same draft, and you refresh the page you already have open — the address stays the same round after round.

    When it looks right, say so — ChatGPT publishes the draft, and only then does your site address start serving it.

  5. 5. Use it and check

    In a new conversation, add Birta from the tools menu, then ask ChatGPT to list your Birta projects. If it can see them, the connection is ready.
