Birta

Connect Gemini

Gemini on the web can use Birta as a custom app: a connection you add once in its settings. Google opens this to a personal Google account, for owners who are 18 or over and in the US, with the interface in English, and only from gemini.google.com in a browser, not from the mobile app. If you do not see the controls below, pick any other guide under Connection: every tool there publishes the same way.

  1. 1. Open custom apps in Gemini

On gemini.google.com open Settings → Connected Apps (in some accounts it sits under Personal Intelligence) → Custom apps, then choose Add a custom app.

  2. 2. Add the Birta connection

Name it Birta and paste this address into the MCP server URL field:

    https://birta.dev/mcp

Save it, and Gemini lists the tools it found before you use them.

  3. 3. Allow access

The first time Gemini uses the connection, it opens Birta in your browser. Sign in — with the one-time code sent to your email or with your Google account — then allow access. Gemini keeps its own access after that and connects on its own — there is no key to copy or paste.

  4. 4. How it works

Gemini works on a draft of your site: it writes the pages file by file, starting from scratch or from a copy of a version you already published. Nothing reaches your site address while it does, which keeps serving the version you published last and shows nothing at all until the first one.

Gemini publishes the draft itself once it considers the work done — you do not have to give it the go-ahead. It comes back with two addresses: your site address, which is the live site, and that version's own address, where you mark what you want changed straight on the page.

Tell Gemini what to change, or leave remarks on the version's page and say you have — it makes the changes and publishes the next version.

Want to look before it goes live? Say so — ask Gemini for a draft first and it gives you the draft's own address and waits for your word. The draft keeps that address round after round, so you refresh the page you already have open.

  5. 5. Check that it works

Ask Gemini to list your Birta projects. If it can see them, the connection is ready and you can ask it to publish or update a site.
